Mythical Creatures
English
Read a story about mythical creatures. It might contain mermaids, unicorns, dragons or ogres.
Listen to a story about mythical beasts
Choose a mythical beast and draw or paint your character. Add adjectives (describing words). Does it have long, sharp, green claws? Maybe it has a pointy, coned shaped horn.
Use your drawing and labelled descriptions to create a character description of your mythical creature.
Maths
This week we will be looking into different types of measurements. We will be covering measurements associated with length and using centimetres and metres.
When measuring mass we will be using the units of grams and kilograms.

BBC Bitesize - videos on measurement
Can you measure objects in your home using a ruler or a tape measure? Maybe you could measure the plants in your garden or measure your family? Who is the tallest? What is the difference between the tallest and shortest person in your family? Can you find out how many centimetres are in a metre?
The best way to explore mass is by cooking! Can you measure out the ingredients using a set of scales? Work with a grown up to follow the recipe and to use the oven. Can you find out how many grams are in a kilogram?
Creative ideas
Design your own mythical creature. Which two different animals will you use? Will it be a human and another animal? What will it's magical power be?
