Week 3: 20/04/2020

Welcome to a new term and a new topic.  This half term the topic focus should be 'Life in the Water' so we are going to be suggesting some ideas and tasks based around this theme.


  • Focus on the letters i, n, m, d.  Work on correct letter formation and write/draw a list of objects that start with those initial letters.
  • Research the life cycle of a frog.  Draw a diagram and write a sentence about what happens at each stage.
  • Go on a walk to a local river/pond/stream.  Which animals/insects can you see that live in or near the water?  Make a list/draw what you see.
  • On the Cbeebies website, listen to the story/podcast of Oscar and the Frog. Can you read any other frog stories?

  • Can you make a rhyming string list of words that rhyme with frog?  E.g. frog, log, cog, bog ...



  • Sing the song'5 Little Speckled Frogs'.
  • Play the Leaping Frog game - can you help the frog jump onto the lily pads?

  • Make a hopscotch grid outside - play the game and work on your frog jumps!
  • Can you solve these froggy subtraction problems?
  • Can you draw a 2D shape frog?  Experiment with different 2D shapes for the body.


  • Can you make a frog with concertina springy arms and legs?
  • Use some old yoghurt pots, an egg box or a paper plate to make a frog.
  • Can you research some different types of frogs from around the world? What is the same/different about them? What do they eat? Do they always live near water?
  • Paint a symmetrical frog by folding a piece of paper in half, paint half of the picture and the refold and press to transfer the paint to the other side of the paper.
  • How about doing some exercise? On Youtube watch 'Frank the Frog: A Cosmic Yoga Adventure'.
