Forest Schools at Hadfield Infant School

Forest Schools at Hadfield Infant School

As Hadfield Infant School is set in the beautiful backdrop of the Peak District we have decided to utilise the fantastic resource available on our doorstep. We have teamed up with the 'Longdendale Environmental Centre' to create a bespoke Forest School  curriculum for our KS1 children. The pandemic has had a major impact on many of our children and access to green spaces, outdoor recreation and education is vital to their recovery and well being. The school is proud to be named a 'Peak District Ambassador School' which celebrates the strong links that the school has with the Peak District National Park.  The regular visits are delivered by an experienced National Park Ranger and qualified teacher who has produced primary educational videos for the BBC.

The habitats and landscape provide a stimulating environment for learning, play and adventures, whilst also offering safe access and facilities needed for younger pupils. The activities are designed to teach areas of the curriculum in line with the 'sticky knowledge' school curriculum, providing practical skills and the opportunity for exploration, creativity and enjoyment through a child-centred approach.
