Trips & Visits
At Hadfield Infant School, we believe that children learn best when they are curious, actively involved and able to connect their learning to the world around them. Trips, visits and enrichment experiences are an important part of our curriculum and play a vital role in bringing learning to life.
We want every child to have a childhood rich in opportunity and experiences that inspire, challenge and excite them. Educational visits provide children with opportunities to explore places, people, cultures and experiences beyond the classroom, helping them to understand that learning extends into the wider world.
Our visits are carefully planned to complement and enhance classroom learning. They provide meaningful opportunities for children to apply their knowledge, develop vocabulary, ask questions, make connections and experience things for themselves. Whether exploring our local community and the Peak District, visiting places of historical or cultural interest, experiencing the arts, meeting people from different walks of life or taking part in outdoor adventures, each experience is chosen to enrich the children's learning and broaden their horizons.
Trips and visits also make an important contribution to the development of the whole child. They provide opportunities for children to develop confidence, independence, resilience, communication and social skills.
Our enrichment programme is closely linked to our four core values:
-
Community – Visits help children develop a strong sense of belonging and understand their place within our local community and the wider world. They provide opportunities to meet and learn from others, appreciate different experiences and contribute positively to the communities around them.
-
Aspiration – Enrichment experiences open children's eyes to possibilities beyond what they already know. By experiencing new places, activities, careers, cultures and opportunities, children are encouraged to be curious about the world and to believe in what they might achieve.
-
Perseverance – New experiences can sometimes feel challenging. Trips provide children with opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, solve problems, try something new and keep going when things do not immediately go to plan.
-
Excellence – We encourage children to take pride in themselves, their learning and their achievements. Enrichment experiences allow children to discover and develop their individual strengths, talents and interests and to recognise that excellence can look different for everyone.
Trips and visits also support our commitment to inclusion. We believe that every child should have access to rich and memorable experiences, regardless of their background or circumstances. We work hard to ensure that opportunities beyond the classroom are accessible to all children and that financial circumstances do not become a barrier to participation.
Our enrichment offer reflects our vision of being at the heart of our community and unlocking the doors to the wider world. From Forest School and local walks to educational visits, visitors, workshops, cultural experiences, sport, music and community projects, we seek to create experiences that children will remember and draw upon throughout their education.
Trips and visits are not simply days away from school. They are an integral part of our curriculum. They create memories, inspire curiosity, strengthen relationships, develop character and provide children with experiences that help them understand themselves, their community and the wider world.
