Welcome from the Headteacher
Welcome to Hadfield Infant School – a magical place to learn, thrive and belong.
Whether you are a prospective parent, a future member of our school community or already part of the Hadfield Infant family, I hope our website gives you a glimpse of what makes our school such a special place to be.
As the only infant school in the local area, Hadfield Infant School offers something truly unique. We are a small, welcoming school with a big ambition for every child. Here, children are known, valued and celebrated as individuals. Childhood is cherished, learning is an adventure and every child is encouraged to discover the person they can become.
As a teacher first and foremost, I have spent my entire career working within the infant phase. I passionately believe that these early years of school are some of the most important in a child's educational journey. They are the foundational footsteps upon which everything that follows is built – developing a love of learning, building confidence and independence, discovering talents and interests, learning how to be a good friend and a member of a community, and developing the knowledge, skills and character needed to flourish in the years ahead.
At Hadfield Infant School, we strive to give every child the very best start, recognising that every child is unique, and every child has their own strengths, interests and passions. We know that children do not all shine in the same way. Some may have a natural love of reading and learning, whilst others may discover their strengths through sport, music, creativity, performance, problem-solving, leadership, nature or the relationships that they build with others. Our role is to discover what inspires each child, nurture their individual talents and interests, and provide the opportunities, encouragement and support they need to reach their own full potential.
At the heart of this is our determination that every child leaves Hadfield Infant School able to read. We believe that reading is one of the greatest gifts we can give a child. It unlocks the world in front of them – opening doors to knowledge, imagination, independence and opportunity. When a child can read, they can access learning across every subject, follow their own interests, discover new ideas and continue to learn long after they leave our classrooms. We therefore place reading at the very heart of our curriculum and have the highest expectations for every child, whatever their starting point.
Alongside this strong academic foundation, we want our children to experience a childhood rich in opportunity. From the arts, music and sport to outdoor adventure, community partnerships, leadership and enrichment, we provide experiences that allow children to discover what they are good at, what they love and what they can contribute. We want every child to find something that makes their eyes light up – something that gives them confidence, develops their talents and helps them understand that their possibilities are limitless.
Our vision is simple; to be at the heart of our community, unlocking the doors to the wider world and laying the foundations for educational excellence. Everything we do is rooted in our values of Community, Aspiration, Perseverance and Excellence.
We want every child who walks through our doors to feel that they belong here. We want them to feel safe to be themselves, brave enough to have a go, proud of what they achieve and excited about what they might discover next.
Our ambition is not for every child to achieve the same. It is for every child to discover their own strengths, develop their own passions and leave us knowing that they can achieve great things.
I hope as you explore our website, you will see not only what we teach, but who we are. You will discover the experiences, opportunities and relationships that make Hadfield Infant School such a magical place to grow.
Most importantly, I hope you will get a sense of the warmth, ambition and sense of belonging that you will find when you become part of our school community.
We would love to welcome you to Hadfield Infant School and begin the next chapter of your child's journey together.
With warmest wishes,
Francesca Dodd,
Headteacher
