School Governors 2024-25

No two school years are ever the same but at Hadfield Infant School we maintained our full complement of hardworking and committed governors for 2024-25. .At the end of the Summer term however circumstances saw the end of office of Becky Woods as our county councillor as she moved to Scarborough and John Pasiecznik moved to be closer to his daughters. Both had served with great distinction and we will miss their expertise. This year also saw our very experienced parent governor Jenna Bardsley take on the role of Vice Chair adding to her SEND and Safeguarding and Child Protection roles .We were also pleased to welcome our new staff governor and member of the school leadership team Joanne Lowe and she has proved invaluable at our meetings. Given the hard work and commitment as a governor as well as her role of HLTA we invited Aileen Wilson to remain as one of our co-opted governors and were delighted when she accepted...

We have always been fortunate in our parent governors and Catherine Ward has been invaluable as a governor who not only shows her expertise in finance but also in the way she so effectively scrutinises documents and our decision making and from September 2025 has agreed to be a co-opted governor. Neil Studd in his second year as a parent governor has raised issues and posed questions which have helped us appreciate the need for clarity in communication. From September 2025 two new parent governors will join him and he will be a very helpful role model for them. Our Hadfield North borough councillor Gill Cross keeps us updated on community events and actions and signposts clearly where help is available for those who may require support.

Our committee chairs Keith Walker (Resource Management) and Cilla Hollman (Teaching and Learning) have been remarkable in their commitment dedication and expertise and years of experience always in the interests of our children and the whole school community .Keith is our policy guru and expects commitment to the system as he ensures our budget is scrutinised and our policies are regularly reviewed and updated. Cilla is a very helpful guide being a member of the NGA and scrutinising our documents for accuracy.

It has been valuable to improve our communication of Governors with Parents with the three special newsletters of Christmas, Easter and summer terms. We cannot fault the vast improvement Mrs Dodd has instigated with so many opportunities to be swiftly linking with every parent and carer and all who work in our school by the Dojo system. This happily pings its way to the different devices and keeps everyone updated. Mrs Dodd’s regular two week newsletter brings colourful images and a wonderful record of the everyday happenings in school but also evidence of so many curriculum and community activities enhancing the learning experiences of all our children as they work their way through Hadfield Infant School. How wonderful to see a brilliant staff team that is so supportive of the many extra -curricular occasions when they return or stay on after school and attend the occasional weekend event which provides all round experiences offered to children and their families.

Once again I sincerely thank all governors for all their hard work and commitment to Hadfield Infant School throughout 2024-25 and pay tribute to the ongoing leadership of Mrs Dodd and her staff team as they will no doubt add even more sparkle to the Diamond Jubilee Year of 2025-26.
