As a parent of a special
needs child I had many
concerns about Charlie going
from nursery to school.
Hadfield Infants gives a
great balance of reassurance
to us and our child, that
the 'wheels' don't really
matter and that whatever
your needs every child is
special.

Hadfield Infant School is designed specifically for children aged four to seven. This is evident in every facility and piece of furniture in the school, from the size of the toilets to the height of computer desks.

In recent years the school has been improved with a newly furbished media suite, the addition of interactive white boards in the classroom, and a modern, well stocked library. The school grounds have also been improved in recent years with the addition of a log trail and climbing frame, and we also have a quiet garden area where the children may draw, read or simply chat with friends.

We welcome the involvement of parents in the school, and have recently intoduced a 'Reading Friends' scheme, where a team of eight parents and grandparents have received professional training to enable them to each spend an afternoon a week helping children to learn to read.

We also have support from a Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and a team of 15 governors. We have also recently introduced a school council; a group of ten children who represent their fellow pupils, and help to make important decisions. See links on the left-hand menu for further details.

Most of our children transfer from Hadfield Nursery School and then move on to St Andrew's Junior School. All three schools work together to ensure continuity and a smooth transition between the three stages of education. We are a central part of an initiative to bring the three schools even closer together, and provide even closer links to the local community.

Finally, here's a selection of what the children think ...
